I was just twenty-one years old the first time I traveled outside the United States. Memories of that trip have stuck with me through the years. I still talk about it to this day, and I still remember the wonder and awe I felt as I got to experience a culture different from my own. Experiencing international travel fundamentally changed me and altered my perspective on the world and the people living here. With this in mind, I’m thrilled to partner with Trova Trip to offer bucket-list trip experiences to my friends, family, and followers– and I’m even more excited to get to experience it with YOU!
This trip isn’t your run-of-the-mill tourist experience. Instead, we will be camping in beautiful campsites each night, participating in group camp set-up and cooking meals together. During the day, we will be exploring some of Iceland’s most epic views, waterfalls, and experiences, hiking across glaciers and mountain ridges, and visiting iconic landmarks. I chose Iceland because it ranked high on the list of places you, my followers and friends, want to go. I chose this itinerary because I know that most of you, like me, enjoy more rugged and true wilderness experiences. I think this is going to be the trip of a lifetime!

So who is this trip for? Anyone aged 18+ who enjoys hiking, camping, and adventure. If you’ve never camped before, don’t worry! This is a participatory trip and all group members will participate in setting up and breaking camp, under the supervision and instruction of our experienced guide. This is an awesome opportunity to learn how to camp in the wild in a safe and supportive environment. We will be doing several half- and full-day hikes, and this trip is considered a level 4 activity level. You should be fit enough to hike at a moderate (1.5-2mph) pace for 4-6 hours. If you are concerned about fitness, don’t worry too much about that either! Once the trip is confirmed, I will be launching a private group where we can share tips and encouragement for getting into hiking shape before July, 2024.

Trip Itinerary:
Fun fact! I’ve never been to Iceland, so we will be exploring and learning together!
Day 1:
Welcome to Iceland! Take an airport transfer into Reykjavik, and onward to your first campsite at Hveragerdi. The first day is all about getting into Iceland and to our campsite for the night. Once everyone has arrived, we will have our welcome dinner! This is an opportunity to meet each other, get to know our guide, and learn about what the week has in store.
Day 2:
We will eat breakfast at camp, followed by your Cell Phone Photography workshop. I want to make sure you have all the tools you need to capture some truly incredible shots on our adventures today!
Leave your campsite behind and head out to the most famous route in the country: Golden Circle. Your first stop will be in Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Here you will be able to look down a volcanic rift and straddle two tectonic plates. Fun fact: This is the only place where the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates meet and can be seen on dry land. Thingvellir is recognized as the place in which Iceland’s identity as a nation began as it was the site the Viking settlers chose as their parliament back in the 10th century.
From there you’ll continue to the spouting hot springs of the Great Geysir and Strokkur, where you’ll be able to walk around the geothermal area. The lively Strokkur spouts water 100 feet into the air every few minutes, so have your camera ready and enjoy the show!
Your final destination of the day will be the powerful Gullfoss Waterfall, found in the HvÃtá river canyon in Southwest Iceland. Travel to where the milky Hvita river drops into a volcanic fissure, forming one of Iceland’s most beautiful waterfalls, Gullfoss. You will have some time to walk around the area and take some epic photos.
Day 3
Leave your campsite this morning and head out to the town of Hella. In town, you will pick up some supplies with your Guide before swapping to a bus to travel across the river to Thorsmork. Named after the Norse god Thor, the Icelandic ridge is situated between two impressive glaciers. On arrival take some time to set up your tents as you’ll be staying here for the next few days. Depending on your mood and energy you can take some time to relax and enjoy nature, or start with a short hike in the area.
Spend a half day hiking in Thorsmork. The specific trail will be decided by the Guide based on trail conditions, weather, and group physical ability. Rest assured, trails will have no shortage of breathtaking scenery and Icelandic beauty.
Day 4
Today will be our first full-day hike! The Thorsmork Nature Reserve has some of the most beautiful and varied hiking terrain in all of Iceland. Offering unrivaled views of glaciers, rivers, and mountains, with the sprawling valley below. Since your camp will be in the heart of the mountain ridge, your group will have many options to choose from. Depending on the conditions on the ground, the Guide will decide with the group which hikes to tackle for today and tomorrow.
Day 5
Our second full-day hike in Thorsmork! You’ll spend a full day hiking in Thorsmork. The specific trail will be decided upon by the Guide based on trail conditions, weather, and group physical ability. Rest assured, every trail has breathtaking scenery and Icelandic beauty.
Thorsmork boasts a variety of hiking trails, from glaciers and ridge walks with long-range views, to river canyons and waterfalls, there is something for everyone. Our guide will help us decide on the best trails to hike based on the skill and fitness level of the group overall, and our individual desires.
Day 6
Today you’ll leave the mountain ridge and return to the town of Hella. From there continue back to Hveragerði to set up camp. Tonight you’ll enjoy a farewell dinner as a group.
Day 7
All good things must come to an end, until next time! After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight home. TrovaTrip will provide a transfer back to the airport form our campsite.
